چکیده
WINDHAGER, ERICH E. Electrophysiological study of renal papilla of golden hamsters. Am. J. Physiol. 206(4) : 694-700. 1g64.Electrical potential differences across the tubular epithelium of loops of Henle and of collecting ducts were measured by microelectrode techniques. In a separate series of experiments concentrations of Na22 and of chloride were estimated in fluid collected from Henle’s loop and in vas rectum plasma at corresponding cross-sectional levels of the papilla. The lumen of thin ascending limbs of Henle’s loop was found electrically more negative (mean : -I I mv), with respect to interstitial fluid, than the lumen of thin descending limbs ( -3 mv). No chemical driving force for reabsorptive net diffusion of sodium chloride was found across the wall of thin limbs of Henle’s loop. The magnitude of the electrical potential differences observed across the collecting duct epithelium (mean: I 4 mv) indicates the existence of active transport of both sodium and chloride across this part of the terminal nephron.

The objective of this study was to investigate fungal flora of the hair coat of domestic golden hamsterswith and without skin lesions. Sixty hamsters were examined in the Small Animal Teaching Hospitalof the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, and Mashhad, Iran. متن کاملThe Effect of Concomitant Ethanol and Opium Consumption on Lipid Profiles and Atherosclerosis in Golden Syrian Hamster’s Aorta
Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the main cause of mortality in the world and is normally argued as the third cause of all mortalities. Opium and alcohol every day consumption can cause people to have many health problems. The present study aimed to assess the effect of ethanol and opium consumption on lipid profiles and atherosclerosis in aorta. Methods: Twenty four male golden Syri...
متن کاملKiwifruit effect on adipose tissue cell size and cholesteryl ester transfer protein gene expression in high-fat diet fed Golden Syrian hamsters
Objective: The effects of kiwifruit on the histology and cell size of adipose tissue in hyperlipidemic models have not yet been reported. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of kiwifruit on the adipose tissue cell size and activity as well as the gene expression of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) in high-fat diet (HFD...
متن کاملPersistent West Nile virus infection in the golden hamster: studies on its mechanism and possible implications for other flavivirus infections.
Golden hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) experimentally infected with West Nile virus (WNV) developed chronic renal infection and persistent shedding of virus in urine for up to 8 months, despite initial rapid clearance of virus from blood and the timely appearance of high levels of specific neutralizing antibodies. Infectious WNV could be recovered by direct culture of their urine and by coculti...
متن کاملEffects of Ca++ and prostaglandin E1 on vasopressin activation of renal adenyl cyclase.
Adenyl cyclase activity was assayed in crude homogenates of the renal cortex, medulla, and papilla of the golden hamster. The specific activity (moles C-AMP/unit of time per mg protein of tissue) of the enzyme under basal conditions, was greatest in papilla, somewhat lower in medulla, and least in cortex. On an absolute scale, the sensitivity to vasopressin was greater in the medullary and papi...
